The University of Minnesota Virtual Private Network (VPN) is
the centrally managed Office of Information Technology
(OIT) service that allows a computer to connect to the
University network without using an Ethernet connection.
A VPN connection appears as though you are inside the
University network and allows access to its internal
resources.
VPN client software is available free of charge to all
students, faculty, and staff. OIT encourages all students,
faculty, and staff to install the VPN client on their own
personal computers. There are over 17,000 VPN clients
currently deployed on Windows PCs, Macintoshes, and
various Linux and UNIX computers.
