Conferencing

Several conferencing options are available to the University community, including voice, web, and video.

Audio and Web Conferencing 

The University of Minnesota has contracted with InterCall to provide audio and web conferencing services.

Audio Conferencing

InterCall offers Reservationless-Plus® and Operator Assisted Audio Conferencing Services.

Reservationless-Plus® gives you the power to host conference calls whenever you want. Just pick up your phone, dial your dedicated phone number, conference code and PIN to initiate a call. 

Rate is $.02/min per participant multiplied by the number of minutes for Reservationless-Plus.

Operator Assisted service lets their expert operators manage all the details so you can concentrate on delivering your message.

Rate is $.14/min per participant multiplied by the number of minutes for Operator Assisted.

Web Conferencing

InterCall's Unified Meeting allows you to present PowerPoint slides, share applications, documents, spreadsheets, quiz and survey participants and show websites. Some training is recommended before using this service. Sign up for one of the free instructor-led or self-paced classes available on the InterCall website.

Request an Account

To request an account, go to the InterCall website for the University of Minnesota and click Sign Up Now. You will need to enter the University's InterCall username UnivMinnUser1 and password UnivMinnUser_1. Once the request has been submitted, you'll receive a confirmation email within 48 hours from InterCall with your account information and then you will be ready to make conference calls. Full sign-up instructions are available.

Billing 

Once a month, each user will receive an email from InterCall with an itemized list of the calls they made during that billing cycle. A lump sum or the total amount for all conference calls made during that billing cycle will be billed directly to the credit card supplied.

InterCall will be providing the support for this service. If you have any general questions, feel free to call the Technology Help Service Desk at (612) 301-4357 (1-HELP on campus). University Operators

Please be advised: No new requests for operator-assisted calls will be accepted after May 31, 2103. Calls scheduled for dates in the month of June will be supported. As of July 1, 2013, InterCall will provide enterprise voice and web conferencing.

The University operator can set up conference calls within regular University business hours (7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) for up to 12 participants.

Attention:

The Gopher Conferencing service will no longer be available as of July 1, 2013. Phone and web conferencing service will be provided be InterCall, which is now available.

Video Conferencing

Video conferencing (interactive television) connectivity is available to and from all five University campuses and to the statewide Distant Learning Network of Minnesota. We also provide ISDN service to connect credit course and noncredit events to distant sites beyond the University system or state network. Web Conferencing

University faculty, staff, and eligible graduate students to create on-demand web presentations and communicate and collaborate through web conferences and webcasts using UMConnect.
