ArcGIS Advanced (previously licensed as ArcView and ArcInfo) enables you to analyze your data and author geographic knowledge to examine relationships, test predictions, and ultimately make better decisions. ArcGIS is available in three license levels—Basic, Standard, or Advanced (formerly ArcView, ArcEditor, or ArcInfo, respectively). These license levels share the same core applications, user interface, and development environment. Each license level provides additional GIS functionality as you move from Basic to Standard to Advanced. At the University we are licensed at the highest available level (Advanced). Departmental- and collegiate-level licenses also include Server and Online.

LabVIEW is a graphical programming environment used by engineers and scientists to develop sophisticated measurement, test, and control systems using intuitive graphical icons and wires that resemble a flowchart. LabVIEW offers integration with thousands of hardware devices and provides hundreds of built-in libraries for advanced analysis and data visualization. The LabVIEW platform is scalable across multiple targets and operating systems, and since its introduction in 1986 has become an industry leader.

MATLAB is a high-level language and interactive environment that enables you to perform computationally intensive tasks faster than with traditional programming languages such as C, C++, and Fortran.

NVivo is data analysis software designed for qualitative researchers working with very rich text-based and/or multimedia information. The software combines subtle coding with the qualitative linking, shaping, and modeling.

R is a free software environment for statistical computing and graphics.

The SAS Education Analytical Suite is an integrated system of software products that enables the programmer to perform: data entry, retrieval, management, and mining; report writing and graphics; statistical analysis; business planning, forecasting, and decision support; operations research and project management; quality improvement; applications development; data warehousing; and platform independent and remote computing.

As of 02/28/13: SAS Inc. does not support the installation of SAS on computers running Windows 8, but has stated that they are working on support for Windows 8. Check their supported systems information and watch for news on Windows 8 support.
