Installation Instructions

  1. Obtain the University's license number for this product.
    1. Go to https://download.software.umn.edu/download and follow the link for Software Product Keys.
    2. If you agree with the terms set forth on the page, click the Agree button.
    3. Scroll down the page and look for the R-Wipe & Clean license key. You may want to copy the key and paste it into a document or text file so it is readily available when you install the software later.
  2. Download the R-Wipe & Clean installer: http://www.r-wipe.com/Disk_Cleaning_Download.shtml. Note that the "trial version" will become fully functional after entering the license key into the software.
  3. Install the R-Wipe & Clean software you downloaded.
  4. Open the R-Wipe & Clean software program, go to the Help menu, choose About, and then choose the Register option. Fill in the Name and Company fields. Copy and paste, or type in, the license number from Step 1 above.
  5. Configure the required settings for University of Minnesota use: Go to the Tools menu, choose Customize, and uncheck event logs and firewall logs under the System heading so that these important logs are always left alone. Optionally, you can also uncheck recent documents, or else uncheck it each time you use the program.

All faculty and staff on all University of Minnesota campuses are eligible to receive this software.

  • The computer must be purchased with University of Minnesota Funds.
  • The computer must be owned by the University of Minnesota.
