A special note for UMD staff is below. For more information, see the Microsoft Home Use Program Download FAQ's page.

To purchase:

  2. Then go to the Microsoft Home Use Program website (you can follow this link).
  3. Select your Country/Region.
  4. Enter your University of Minnesota email address. *You MUST enter your email address as <username@umn.edu>. If you have both a student and staff email address, please make sure you use your staff address. 5. Enter the University's program code.
  6. Select Submit.
  7. Follow the steps to place your order online, and the software will be shipped to the location you have chosen. Please note that a fulfillment fee will be charged for packaging, shipping, and handling costs.

Program Code Note: This unique program code is assigned to our organization for the sole use of University of Minnesota staff and faculty to use in accessing this site. You may not share this number with anyone outside our organization.

Cost

The price is $9.95 + shipping and handling. You can also order physical media for back up and various language packs for additional fees.

Terms & Conditions

General Technology Products Terms & Conditions apply to this software license. If additional terms and conditions apply to this item, they will be listed below.

Under the Home Use Program, UMN staff and faculty employees may acquire a licensed copy of Office for Windows or Mac (at the same level that UMN has licensed for install on UMN owned computers) to install and use on a home computer. You may continue using HUP software while you are under employment at the University of Minnesota AND as long as the corresponding  software you use at work has active Software Assurance coverage. Should the University decide to NOT renew the Microsoft contract for Office, communications will be sent out U-wide.  And should you leave your position at UMN for any reason it is your responsibility to remove the software from your computer.  By ordering the software you are agreeing to abide by this guideline.

If you are no longer in employment at UMN you can still obtain Office through any number of resellers (online or in person at a store that sells software).
