General Information

Description

Anti-virus software protects your computer from viruses, spyware, and other malicious software. Starting Fall 2013 at the University of Minnesota we are using Microsoft System Center Endpoint Protection on UMN owned computers. 

Students & Staff/Faculty personal use: June 21, 2013 was the final date for students to download Symantec Antivirus software through the University of Minnesota’s contracts.  To find suggestions and links to other anti-virus products, please choose your Campus under the drop down menu '1. Select Your Campus' and then under the drop down menu '2. Select User License Type' choose 'Student Personal Computer' or 'Faculty/Staff Personal Computer'.  You can learn about the changes to student Microsoft and anti-virus software contracts.

Students: June 21, 2013 was the final date for students to download Symantec Antivirus software through the University of Minnesota’s contracts. 

Staff and faculty: You have until June 21, 2014 to remove Symantec from your personally owned computer.  We highly recommend that you begin your migration to a different product as soon as you can.  Below we have a listing and links to recommended anti-virus products.
