Personal Purchases

Personal purchases are for current students, staff, and faculty of the University of Minnesota. To make a personal purchase:

  1. Select a product category in the Products menu at left and then a featured product or vendor.
  2. Select Student Personal or Faculty/Staff Personal from the Select Purchase Type pulldown menu.
  3. Select the Order Product button and log in with your University of Minnesota Internet and password.
  4. You will then be redirected to the vendor site where you can purchase your product.

Departmental Purchases Using a Peoplesoft Order Requisition

Departmental representatives may use the UMart site to identify items they wish to order for their departments:

  1. Select a product category in the Products menu at left and then a featured product or vendor.
  2. Select Departmental from the Select Purchase Type pulldown menu.
  3. Select the Order Product button and log in with your University of Minnesota Internet and password.
  4. You will then be redirected to the vendor site. Send the product price and number of the item you want to the person in your department who prepares Peoplesoft order requisitions.
    • If the order will be going to a "Web" vendor (Dell, Apple), select the Web tab on Create Requisitions in PeopleSoft and punch out to Dell or Apple. Requestors may prepare a shopping cart, then give the cart code to the requisition preparer, who will retrieve the shopping cart during the requisition entry process and transfer it to the order.
    • If the order will be going to a Technology Products vendor who is not yet set up in Peoplesoft under the Web tab (such as Lenovo, Unique, GovConnection), the preparer will create a requisition.

Departmental Purchases Using a PCard (Purchasing Card)

Purchasing Card users may use their PCards to make purchases, as long as they follow policy guidelines. To make a departmental purchase using a PCard:

  1. Select a product category in the Products menu at left and then a featured product or vendor.
  2. Select PCard from the Select Purchase Type pulldown menu.
  3. Select the Order Product button and log in with your University of Minnesota Internet and password.
  4. You will then be redirected to the vendor site where you can purchase your product.

Returns

All return requests must go through the vendor from which you purchased the product. Each vendor has different return policies and procedures.

Contact information can generally be found on the vendor site. This information is sometimes sent in the confirmation e-mail you receive when you initially place your order.
