E-mail and Internet Accounts Guides pages
Your Internet ID is your unique account name and provides access to all University network resources including myU portal, e-mail, and more.
UMart, a University e-commerce site, offers new computers, accessories, cell phones and service, and high-speed Internet access at educational discounts to members of the University community.
CAP assists University students, staff, and faculty with disabilities in accessing computers and information through the use of adaptive technology.
Registered students are eligible to purchase network- and wireless-ready certified laptop computer bundles complete with the latest operating system, updates and patches, as well as pre-installed software, such as Microsoft Office.

The Department of Emergency Management is a division of Public Safety that develops plans and resources to enable the University to deal with disasters. Sign up to receive TXT-U text message emergency notifications.

Set up authorized payer accounts for yourself or others with UMPay. Set up a Parent/Guest Access account giving view-only access to your student account.
Netfiles online file storage offers each student 5GB of storage through an easy-to-use Web interface. Activation is required.
Your basic account includes a 50MB home directory for IMAP mail folders, school files, and other general file storage, and 20MB of Web space that can house your personal Web page.

Anonymous file sharing is not allowed, and downloading or distributing copyrighted material without permission is against the law. All students are required to comply with the University of Minnesota policy on Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources.

Housing and Residential Life, in partnership with the Office of Information Technology, provides high-speed Ethernet access to the campus network via Etherjacks in residence hall rooms.
Keep your computer free from viruses, worms, and spyware. Antivirus software is required on all computers connected to the University network. One copy of Symantec AntiVirus is provided at no charge to University students.
University students may purchase some software at a discounted price. Eligibility is based on University affiliation.

Technology Help is your first point of contact for computer, Internet, and campus telephone support. Check here for help with e-mail, passwords, hardware, software, ResNet, campus telephones, and Web-based learning course site issues. Walk-in help is available at Tech Stop, a student-focused technology center located in 101 Coffman Memorial Union.
One telephone line is included in your residence hall room. Students are responsible for providing their own telephones.
Free orientations, fee-based short courses, and online selfpaced learning on various topics are available through the University Technology Training Center (UTTC).

Virtual Private Network (VPN) site
VPN lets you create secure connections to wireless and remote networks. You can install client versions of this software on your personal computer.
The customizable myU Web portal brings specific information, including some online class content, and online file space relating to your college of enrollment directly to you.
The University of Minnesota's wireless network provides campus affiliates and guests with wireless Internet access as they roam the Twin Cities campus. There are more than 1,700 wireless access points on the Twin Cities campus.
