Your Internet ID is your unique account name and provides access to all University network resources including myU portal, e-mail, and more.
UMart, a University e-commerce site, offers new computers, accessories, cell phones and service, and high-speed Internet access at educational discounts to members of the University community.

Enterprise Financial System site
The Enterprise Financial System (EFS) serves as a gateway to all financial processes at the University. Other administrative tools are used for human resource and student account processes.
Use Gopher Messaging to access telephone-based voicemail, as well as to access your messages online, send voice messages to an e-mail address, send text messages to a voicemail account, and much more.
We provide services that connect units, faculty, staff, and students in public facilities and residence halls to the Internet and to local network resources.

NetFiles site
Active Directory enables faculty and staff in departments that have signed up for the service to access centralized network file storage. Netfiles online file storage offers faculty and staff 5GB of storage through an easy-to-use Web interface. Activation is required.

Information Technology Policies
Anonymous file sharing is not allowed, and downloading or distributing copyrighted material without permission is against the law. All staff members are required to comply with the University of Minnesota policy on Acceptable Use of Information Technology Resources.

Keep your computer free from viruses, worms, and spyware. Antivirus software is required on all computers connected to the University network. One copy of Symantec AntiVirus is provided at no charge to University faculty and staff members.

We safeguard University information and assets from unauthorized disclosure, use, modification, or loss by developing proactive technical and non-technical measures to help identify and prevent security risks and provide effective response in cases where those measures fail.

Technology Help is your first point of contact for computer, Internet, and campus telephone support. Check here for help with e-mail, passwords, hardware, software, campus telephones, and more. Walk-in help is available at Tech Stop in 101 Coffman Memorial Union. Most support is free to the University community.
We provide learning opportunities aimed at helping faculty, staff, and students get the most out of technologies used on campus. Take one of our scheduled instructor-led classes, log on to online learning, or partner with us to customize or co-deliver training for specific needs.
We provide telephone services to the Twin Cities campus community. Telephone services are centrally funded and available to all campus departments.

University project teams developing Web sites or Web applications can hire us to conduct usability evaluations.
We provide video conferencing, video streaming, satellite, video tape duplication, and video technical consultation services to all University faculty and staff.
University departments, faculty, and staff can hire us to provide video production services for a range of productions types, from single-camera shoots, to complex multi-camera recordings, to live video streaming projects. Services also include script writing, studio and location videotaping, and editing.
Virtual Private Network (VPN) site
VPN lets you create secure connections to wireless and remote networks. You can install client versions of this software on your personal computer.
Departments, faculty, staff, and eligible graduate students can hire us to provide on-site technical assistance for Web conferences and webcasts.
The customizable myU Web portal brings specific information relating to your work life directly to you. Set up links to your favorite news channels, start a discussion, check your e-mail and online calendar, or store files.

Central Web Hosting pages
Each faculty and staff member's basic account includes a 50MB home directory for IMAP mail folders and other general file storage, and 20MB of Web space that can house your personal Web page. We also provide common good central Web hosting to University units. This hosting is done on Unix-like systems and does not include database back ends. Web content is maintained by staff in local units.
The University of Minnesota's wireless network provides campus affiliates and guests with wireless Internet access as they roam the Twin Cities campus. There are more than 1,700 wireless access points on the Twin Cities campus.
