Boreas Ops group is comprised of technical members from all of the participants in BOREAS, the Broadband Optical Research, Education and Sciences Network (BOREAS). The ops group is charged by the BOMC group to do certain tasks and provide recommendations on upgrades, distribution of costs, technical direction, etc.

The Broadband Optical Research, Education and Sciences Network (BOREAS) is a group that intends to build and operate a Regional Optical Network (RON) in the upper Midwest. BOMC members interact with the BOREAS Operations group, assign tasks to the group, receive direction from the BOREAS Oversight Group, and work on vision and operational issues, budget oversight, and approvals.

Data custodians for human resources, student administration, finance, and research, along with a representative from OIT Data Security, meet on a regular basis to discuss common problems and solutions regarding access to enterprise applications.

The IT (information technology) Leadership Alliance (formerly called the IT Directors group) is composed of institutional IT leaders and selected representatives from OIT. Its purpose it to contribute to the University’s strategic technology plan.

METNET is a distance learning network consisting of eleven Twin Cities metro area community colleges, technical colleges, Metropolitan State University and the University of Minnesota. It is one of the six higher education telecommunications networks that comprise the Learning Network of Minnesota.

UVUC is a professional peer network of video professionals at the University. Its purpose is to forge connections, create opportunities to learn from each other, raise awareness of existing resources, identify collective needs, and formstrategies for dealing with challenges.
