Moodle & Media Management (Kaltura)
Kaltura is a media management system which allows you to upload, organize, analyze and distribute media in Moodle courses via the resources and activities areas. There is a 2 GB maximum file size for uploading. There is no limit to the total file size/count per user.
Acceptable Source Video Formats
- flv – Flash Video
- asf – Microsoft Media
- qt – Apple Quicktime
- mov – Apple Quicktime
- mpg – Digital Video Format
- avi – Digital Video Format
- wmv – Windows Media
- mp4 – Digital Video Format
- 3gp – Multimedia Mobile Format
- rm – Real Media
Add a Video Resource: Upload a Video
- In a section, choose Video resource in the Add a resource menu.
- Enter a name for the file in the Name field.
- Optional: enter a brief description in the Description text box.
- In the Video section, click Add video.
- On the Upload tab, click Browse.
- Select the file to upload, and click Open.
- Click Upload.
- After the file has uploaded click Next.
- Enter a Title.
- Optional: enter Tags and Description information.
- Click Next.
- Optional: click the Player properties button.
- Click Save and return to course.
- Click your new link on the home page to test it.
Add an Activity: Video Upload
- In a section, choose Video upload from the Add an activity menu.
- Enter a name for the file in the Name field.
- Optional: enter a brief description in the Description text box.
- Make your choices for Available from, Due Date, Prevent late submissions, Allow late submissions, Allow Resubmitting, and Email alerts to teachers.
- Choose a Grade value and Grading Category.
- Optional: choose Common module settings.
- Optional: choose Restrict Access settings.
- Click Save.
Grade a Single Video Assignment
- Click the assignment link.
- Click Grade submissions.
- In the Status column, click Grade for a user with a video submission.
- On the user video submission page:
• Preview the submission
• Enter a Grade.
• Optional: enter Feedback.
• Save changes.
• Repeat for another user.
Quick Grade Multiple Video Assignments
- Click the assignment link.
- Click Grade submissions.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page, check Allow quick grading, and then click Save preferences.
- When the page refreshes:
- After grading several submissions click Save feedback.
- To return the activity to standard view, uncheck Allow quick grading, and then click Save preferences.
