End of Semester Checklist

Please note our archival process: If you taught an academic course and your students need to continue to have access to your old site in order to finish their work, send an email with site title and full URL to moodle@umn.edu, therefore the site will not be moved to the archive server.

Download or Print Grades

If you have used Moodle grade book, it would be a good idea to save student records separately as well.

  1. Go to course homepage.
  2. Go to the Settings block and click Course administration > Grades.
  3. Click Export tab.
  4. Choose format (Excel spreadsheet is the most common one).
  5. Select to include feedback in export, if desired. Scroll down and click Submit to preview.
  6. Click Download button to save locally.

Hide Your Old Site from Students

  1. Go to course homepage.
  2. Go to the Settings block and click Course administration > Edit settings.
  3. For Availability, select This course in not available to students.
  4. Click Save changes button.

Request a New Site

Fill out the Site Request Form.

Import Content from the Previous Course into the New Site

If you want to get content from a site that has already been moved into the archive server, please fill out the online Site Request Form and include the URL of the archived site.

If your old site is on the the same server as your new site, then you may import the content yourself:

  1. Go to the homepage of your new site.
  2. Go to the Settings block and click Course administration > Import.
  3. Search for your old site and select it. Click Continue.
  4. Select items that you wish to import, click the Next button twice.
  5. Click Perform Import. Your content and activities will be imported into the new site.
