UPDATE: Google's New Privacy Policy

Google's new privacy policy does not change the contractual agreement for Google Apps with the University. Therefore, the updated Terms of Service do not change or supersede the terms of the University’s Google Apps agreement. Google’s new Terms of Service explains that if users have a Google account and are signed in, that Google may combine information the user has provided from one service with information from other services. Google is not changing how any personal information is shared outside of Google or the measures Google takes to protect information. Google will continue to honor confidentiality and security obligations provided to the University’s domains. Read more

UPDATE: Google+ Has Arrived at the U of M!
Google+, Google’s new social networking platform, now is available for University of Minnesota Google Apps account.

So, what is Google+? Similar to some other social networking sites, it will do some of the same general things, such as sending messages to friends, sharing links, chatting, and sharing pictures. But the big difference is that with Google+, you can choose with whom you want to share these things. Find out more by clicking "Using Google+" in the "Using Google Apps" section of this site.

UPDATE: Who's Eligible for a U of M Google Account
All student (undergraduate and graduate), faculty and staff accounts—except accounts affiliated with the Health Care Componets (HCC)—are eligible for University of Minnesota Google accounts. Alumni and retirees that were eligible BEFORE they became an alumni or retiree, also are eligible. It is expected that the rest of the alumni and retirees will be eligible once those sub-domains are available.

Students, faculty and staff who have questions about their move into the University Google space, or with problems signing up, should contact their collegiate/unit IT leaders.

Other updates will be published on the Campus Implementation page as new information becomes available. Please check back frequently.

Additional questions should be directed to OIT Help and Support.
