Teach and Learn With Technology

The Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides a variety of educational technologies that enable instructors and learners to interact with each other and course content in a variety of ways, such as share presentations, conduct meetings, create or access course content, and engage in discussions. These options range from simple to complex and each have different capabilities and limitations.

Choosing and Using Educational Technology Tools

We do not recommend any specific tool, as that decision should be made by the instructor based on his or her needs, skills, and comfort with digital teaching technologies, and urgency. Also keep in mind that not all class types are suited for digital delivery.

However, we offer a variety of support options to help instructors choose among and teach with, and to help students learn with, these educational technologies.

  1. Technology Help

Our technology help staff can help students and instructors access the Internet and the common good educational technology tools listed at right above.

  2. Consultation Services

OIT consultants provide instructors with a range of support related to educational technology use, pedagogy, and instructional design. They can help instructors choose one of the common good educational technology tools listed at right above or one of the other central Services & Systems that could support your instructional needs, or help you explore emerging tools or custom solutions.

  3. Technology Training

Instructors and students can learn about available technologies and how to use them by taking advantage of our training opportunities, including online quick orientations or face-to-face skill building courses.

  1. Faculty Development Programs

Instructors and support staff can get help planning, designing and evaluating courses and curricula that make use of educational technologies through our interdisciplinary, scholarly programs designed to facilitate technical skill building and pedagogical understanding.

  2. Research and Evaluation Services

Our consultations explore the nature and effects of educational technology used in departments and colleges by collaborating with faculty to evaluate technology initiatives and their impact on teaching and learning.

  3. Usability Services

Instructors can gain a clearer understanding of the perspective of students who use educational technology in their classes and assess the usability of these technologies by working with our usability consultants.
