Change Management

The IT environment at the University of Minnesota is made up of hundreds, if not thousands, of servers, software applications, databases, pieces of networking and telecommunications equipment, and facility infrastructure. This environment is both highly complex and extremely difficult to manage as an integrated set of services.

Change management is the structured approach that OIT uses to manage changes to this IT environment via formal request and approval mechanisms. By employing a consistent, structured approach to change management, we are able to ensure that all changes are efficiently and promptly handled, thereby minimizing the impact of change-related incidents on service delivery.
